PowerCard

Is there ever going to be a way to make the TC2 or Power Card Pro emissions legal?  That is the only thing stopping me from purchasing one.  Products that don't pass emissions shouldn't even be considered in this day and age of environmental concerns and stiffening of laws.  There has to be a way you bright designers can get this thing emissions safe. 

Also it needs to have a less permanent type of install method so you could swap it in and out if you had to, or even an on and off switch would be nice.

Lastly, on the Jackson Racing website, there is a supercharger kit for 05-06 RSX that is tuned by Power Card and it is C.A.R.B. approved.  So what gives?  How is this legal and a Power Card by itself not legal?  Maybe the website worded it a little deceptively.  If you are using an emissions legal super charger, but the Power Card on it isn't emissions legal, then you are still going to fail testing.

Believe me, I really do want you to have my money, but I just can't deal with the lack of emissions approval.

Actually, the reason the powercard is carb approved on the jackson racing supercharger is because it is kit specific and it is non-adjustable.  We went through a long and expensive testing process to get that kit approved.  That being said, we are currently working (and have been for a few 6 months now) with carb to get the powercard carb approved by itself.  It will however, have limited adjustment.  Less adjustment than the current powercard.  The current powercard will still be available for those people who don't live in California and care more about performance and drivability than global warming and silly laws. 

I don't live in California but a year ago annual emissions testing was forced upon my state.  So I have to sacrifice some things.  I was going to get a Power Card and be satisfied with my humble bolts ons.  Maybe later I would get a supercharger.

You have given me hope about a future purchase.

And believe me, I would rather the gov be going after the huge, rich polluters of the world like the Duponts, Exxons, Nascars, (he he) instead of the poor common man, but that's the way it is.  I'm not slamming your product, just hoping to be able to own it someday.

Sorry to but in, but couldn't you still use the tuner and just revert to the default stock settings before emissions testing?  

I don't think it has anything to do with testing.  He is concerned that he is polluting the environment.

No.  All I am worried about is failing the emissions test and being told I can't renew my car registration.

Would setting it to default settings make a difference, or have their been any other developments of use to me since I've been away?

I honestly can't believe some of these responses from TechGuy1. A customer comes to this site asking when something is going to be available thats actually legal for him to install on his car in California, and you start making smart remarks about how he's concerned with the enviroment over power and drivability. Honestly, some of the more snobbish and thoughtless responses from a company representative. Why would you be looking for this type of product if you didn't want more power and drivability? People in California, like myself, have to concern themselves with the legality of aftermarket parts because of the risk of fix it tickets, impounded cars, and emissions testing. If you claim to be working so hard to come out with something like this, you must understand the need for it and understand the reasons people look for only 50-state legal products. Just unbelievable.

 

Hey, I'm here again to see if any news on the emissions rating has changed.  Have you gotten approval yet?  I'm still waiting for the day I can buy.
